Mary's magical rooftop gardens

At Mary Elizabeth's Hospital, nature plays an important role in creating a more humane hospital. The vision of the rooftop gardens is to bring healing nature to the most vulnerable children and their families.

Healing nature

Mary's magical rooftop gardens will bring nature closer to isolated children. Even the bone marrow transplant patients who are currently isolated in their wards for months at a time. The rooftop gardens will bring healing nature to the most vulnerable children, their families and the staff at MARYS.

The rooftop garden on the 5th floor is located directly adjacent to the Bone Marrow Transplant Department. Here, children with severe cancer are kept in isolation with their parents. The rooftop garden on the 3rd floor is connected to two staff rooms in close proximity to the pediatric intensive care and neonatal ward. Here, doctors and nurses make difficult decisions every day with fragile little lives in their hands.

The result of a strong partnership

Thanks to a partnership between the Foundation for Mary Elizabeth's Hospital, idverde Denmark, Juul Frost Arkitekter and Malmos Landskaber, we have been able to take an important step towards realizing the dream of the groundbreaking rooftop gardens at Mary Elizabeth's Hospital.

The rooftop gardens are financed in collaboration with ROCKWOOL.
