The Foundation for Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital

New world-class children’s hospital in Denmark
Rigshospitalet, the Capital Region of Denmark and Ole Kirk’s Foundation have joined forces to create a new national children’s hospital in Copenhagen that will provide highly spezialized treatment for sick children, teens and pregnant women from all over Denmark.

The hospital is named Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital after Mary Elizabeth, Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark, and the goal is clear: to set new standards for treatment and revolutionize the experience for children, teens, pregnant women and their relatives before, during and after treatment.

To turn the ambitions to life, and create a hospital that is continuously developing, Børneriget Fonden - the Foundation for Mary Elizabeths Hospital was created. The first ever hospital foundation in Denmark.

Trough the hospital foundation we invite companies, other foundations and organisations to invest in the new Danish children's hospital to secure that future generations will continue to receive world class health treatment in Denmark.

Together we create a world-class children’s hospital in Denmark.

The vision behind the hospital

Creating the best Children’s Hospital in the world

Purpose

Together we are creating a new world class hospital

The intention behind the The Foundation for Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital is to give Denmark a children’s hospital which continues to be world class – The Mary Elizabeth Hospital.

We are creating new collaborations between public and private sector and ensure donations from companies, organisations and foundations as well as from private investors. Together we create new standards for a wholesome treatment – as well as a way for children and their families to continue their daily life during a long and troublesome time of their life.

Values

Curiosity

We believe in an explorative view of the world – and our health care system. We ask questions before we make solutions, and we dare take the first steps in a new direction. We learn, explore and share – all because what we are used to do, does not need to be the right thing to do.

Ambition

We insist on being as ambitious as possible on behalf of our partners, donors and patients. We want to make things happen, but we also have a responsibility to make sure that it happens on the best possible terms. There we are always reaching for better solutions.

Openness

If we want to create a children’s hospital that is constantly seeking to be a world class hospital, we need to be open – to the community and new perspectives. We invite, include and collaborate, because that is how to ensure constant development.

Responsibility

Even though we believe in thinking in new directions, we also believe in efficiency and reality. This means that we also balance our curiosity with consideration, responsibility and accountability. People can count on us, and our biggest goal is to make everyone around us stand better.
